For a storytime that pops...use Pop-Ups!

Pop-ups can make for a great storytime. In a large group, some of the bigger pop-up books can really help a wriggly crowd to focus. In a smaller storytime, the more detailed pop-ups provide a unique experience.
Here's what I've used (though not all at once). :)

Books:
Trucks Go Pop!
by Bob Staake
Count to 10: A pop-up book by Kees Moerbeek
Cookie Count: A Tasty Pop-Up
by Robert Sabuda
Dinosaurs Galore! A Roaring Pop-Up
by Paul & Henrietta Stickland
Opposites
by Robert Crowther
The Whistle on the Trai
n by
The Tale of Two Mice
by Ruth Brown

Activity:
This theme is a great excuse to pull out the parachute! You can pop five little stuffed monkeys on the "bed," pop "popcorn" while playing this song, or just sing "Pop Goes the Weasel."

Craft:
Robert Sabuda's website has an amazing page with all sorts of pop-ups you can make yourself! My favorite one to do for storytime is this one, although this one is a little spookier and fun for monster themes/older kids.
